Various kinds of roller bearings have different characteristics and are suitable for different use of various machines. When choosing the type of bearing, the following factors should usually be considered.
1. Under normal circumstances: thrust bearing angular contact bearing is used when bearing thrust load, the ball bearing is used for high-speed applications, and roller bearing is used when bearing heavy radial load.
2. In mechanical design, the size of the shaft is generally determined first, and then the roller bearing is selected according to the size of the shaft. Usually, the small shaft chooses ball bearings, and the large shaft chooses roller bearings. However, when the bearing is limited in the diameter direction of the machine, needle roller bearings, extra-light and ultra-light series of the ball or roller bearings are selected; When the bearing is limited in the axial position of the machine, narrow or extra-narrow series of the ball or roller bearings can be selected.
3. Load is the most important factor in choosing bearings. Roller bearings are used to bear heavy loads, ball bearings are used to bear light or medium loads, carburized steel or bainite quenched bearings can bear impact and vibration loads. In the direction of action of the load, when the pure radial load is borne, deep groove ball bearing cylindrical roller bearing or needle roller bearing can be selected. When bearing a small pure axial load, thrust ball bearing can be selected: when bearing a large pure axial load, thrust roller bearing can be selected. When bearings bear radial and axial combined loads, angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings are generally selected.
4. When the centerline of the shaft is different from the centerline of the bearing seat, and there is Angle error, or because the distance between the two supports of the shaft is larger and the rigidity of the shaft is smaller, and it is easy to bend or tilt by force, self-aligning ball or self-aligning roller bearing with good self-aligning performance can be selected, as well as the outer ball bearing. This kind of bearing can maintain normal work under the condition that the shaft is slightly tilted or bent. (The self-aligning performance of bearings is related to the allowable different axiality. The greater the value of different axiality, the better the self-aligning performance.)
5. The limit speed of the grease-lubricated bearing is lower than that of the oil-lubricated bearing, and the oil supply mode of the bearing has an impact on the limit speed that can be achieved. (Most bearing manufacturers' product catalogs provide the limit speed value of their products. The practice has proved that it is better to work at 90% of the low dry limit speed.)
